If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it. :) |
This little guy is the perfect example of vanity, seeking the world for some sort of meaning, looking in all of the wrong places, and leaving empty handed.
This morning I read Ecclesiastes 2:1-11, it tells about Solomon and his search for fulfilment. He indulged himself with any pleasure he could find (Yeah, you know what that means), he tried to find satisfaction in his achievements, possessions, wealth and fame. Each one of these failed to bring him the fulfilment he was searching for.
This is so our world today! We look for pleasure anywhere, even on the computer. We spend our lives working on our careers. We whore all of our possessions and wealth thinking it will add up to something. And of course, we all want to experience some sort of fame. I’m saying this, knowing I am guilty of all of these.
If we walked passed Solomon on the street, we would have thought that he had it all figured out, we would want to be him. Solomon said, “Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.”
Those are some eye opening words coming from a dude who supposedly had it all. I guess what I get out of all of this, is that we can spend our lives searching for what we think we want, and we will never be satisfied. But as soon as we realize our hearts and souls will never be satisfied until we seek God, I mean really seek Him. Praying once a day and going to church twice a week is not seeking God, but really following Him and allowing Him to conform your life, that is when we will be satisfied.
Who says Smurfs cannot be used for devotion? :D
